Larry.. the 88 color book indicates a "TAN" interior, and it looks like it in the book, very beige, yet it is called light-grey. The 89 color book lists "linen grey" which is an off white. What is up with Gray and Grey, anyway? So Linen is a form of grey. OK? BUT..My 89 Linen interior hatch carpet says "Leinen" or something like that. (I just checked). I don't know if I helped or confused you more!

The easy way to see a real Turbo S from a Turbo are the rolled rear fenders. They S had the fenders rolled to take the wider rears. The regular Turbos didn't need this with the 8" rear rims

The S has

Club Sport forged wheels - Look like design 90's but different in that they are forged and have a slighly different spoke.

Brakes. rotors are from 928S4 so should have 928.xxx.xxx part numbers and be different from left side to right side. Their venting is direction. The calipers are much bigger on the front vs the rear also.

Fenders.
the S has "rolled fenders" This mean the inner lip is rolled in rounded on the inside. Non-s cars just have square edge. The story on this was that it was done to ensure clearnace for the larger stock tire size.

Chassis stiffener.

Look under the coolant expansion tank. There should be triangular piece of sheet metal going from the stut tower forward to the frame rail. Should be about 4" long by 2" high. This will also be on the other side of the car under the power steering tank.

It is important to know if you have and S or not since there are some differet parts. One of those is the coolant hoes. Due to the siffener the coolant hoes to the tank are little different
I have a S. There is no special vin number nor "S" on the back no a particular list of options. My does not even have the M758 option on the option label. Just M030 and bunch of other stuff.

BTW.. I have checked and the Turbo is a k26/8 <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">Yup, I second

My Turbo S does not have much of anything on the option tag. It does have CS wheels, 10-speaker, and so on. I will have to look for the rolled fenders. My Cab also has 9" rear wheels (D-90's) and 245's, I wonder if they rolled its fenders too.

How can you tell if the Turbo is a /8?

One had it, two others did not have it.

Some people here reckon the M758 option code refers to the factory 290hp kit, however I drove the S with the M758 code and it did not feel faster than a stock 1990 951.
I have to say it cannot be verified if the M758 really corresponds to the factory 290hp kit because 250hp 951 were not homologated as 290hp cars (!). Therefore I doubt the factory would give out any information about it.

The only thing I am sure of is that I do not know what to think about this M758 option code.

Does anyone have any more information on this? As far as I know, no such thing was ever available in the US, at least not for the street.

By "here" I mean "in France". Apologies for the confusion.

Regarding the 290hp kit, some turbo Cup car which raced in the 1990 trophy in France had to be detuned to stock configuration - ie 250hp - to pass the road homologation, because officially there was no 290hp 951 available.

Fairy tale or not I cannot tell, it's a bit like some of the late 928 GTS leaving the factory with 18" wheels although they were then not homologated for 18" wheels ...

M758 is the desigation for the Turbo S.

Not all cars have it on their option tags.

Looking through a 944 factory parts book you can see that there are a number of parts designated for the M474 option, M030 option, and M758 Special Model option.
