Wow, thanks for all the replies and info. I have the factory manuals on the way. I know someone who can weld up an overhead engine support. I really didnt know there was enough strength in the engine bay to support the engine the way you guys are showing.
btw - where could I get a used forged alloy wheel? the flat face design. I have a cracked one. I was going to go thru automobile atlanta but they take forever with used parts and my experience with customer service was slim to none some time ago. Nice catalogs though.

"Yet another engine support. Head is off and block is covered in plastic."
So I take it you have both the bottom end and head off? How were you suspending the block?

Well, you have a pretty strong vertical wall of metal along the inner fender. The strut towers are pretty beefy as well. And, there's only about 350-400lbs of weight to suspend.

You noticed that I lost the back engine lift hook when I pulled the head. So, the front is supported with the front engine lift hook, the back is with the passenger motor mount bracket. Since both of these points are close together, it allows the engine to rock without additional support. What you don't see is the jack under the car supporting the back of the engine. The jack doesn't have much weight on it but it keeps the engine from rocking.

Mark,
Auto Atlanta pricing is very high. Try Oklahoma Foreign at <a href="http://www.oklahomaforeign.com" target="_blank">www.oklahomaforeign.com</a> or call them at 800-462-2446. <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" />
