Size of LR wastegate?
There's a lot of talk regarding 35mm vs 46mm Tial's and Tial's vs LR Dual Port wastegate but how large is the opening of the LR wastegate?
Some people says the 35mm Tial is sufficient to 400hp, others say 350hp etc. But I never see this discussion regarding the LR unit?
The 46mm Tial is a bit too expensive for me, but I still want a unit that's good for up to 400hp!

They just rebuild the stock unit. So, it'd be same size. But, it'd be best to ask them directly.

SLEVY,
it is NOT a rebuilt stocker.... it is a completely DIFFERENT head on top of a remanned stock hotside The head with it's diaphragm is almost TWICE that of a stock wastegate....... comparing the head to the comp wheel of my turbo (54mm) I would say the LR wastegates head is around 60mm (from memory)
THere almost isn't enough room to fit it into that crevis
BY NO MEANS, is that just a "rebuilt" stock wastegate.

I have NO EXPERIENCE w/any of them, but Jon milledge told me a year or so ago, that the Tial was "world class" and implied that they were the best on the market. This doesn't necessarily make them the best, nor does it say ANYTHING bad about the LR unit, it's just that I (and many others) hold jon's opinion on anything to do w/these cars in very high regard. I never discussed specifics or anything w/him though. Anyway, I say this to let you know that I don't think you could go wrong w/the Tial OR the LR, from what I've heard, so either way, you'll probably be very happy- I'd call around and get opinions, as well as details on the install- I'm not sure the Tial is a standard bolt-on proposition, so that may weigh into things some. Are the LR's easy to install? If I keep my car, I will eventually need to know, as I will eventually add a better wastgate...
Good luck...

If the price didn't matter I'd go for the 46mm Tial but since I feel it's a bit to expensive for me the battle stands between the smaller Tial and the LR.
I don't want to end up with a new wastegate that's too small, and I've never heard of any HP-limits of the LR unit as opposed to the 350-400HP limit of the 35mm Tial.

I am pretty sure that the wastegate measurements are the diameter of the valve in the gate. In the stock wastegate, the valve is identical to our exhaust valves in the valvetrain. I am also pretty sure that LR doesn't fit a larger valve in their application (if they did, I am sure they would advertise this point). I can't remember the diameter of our stock exhaust valves, but I am sure it is smaller than 40mm.
Also, the 40mm Tial bolts directly to the crossover pipe. The only fabricating is to connect it to the stock exhaust. However, if you are going to dump to atmosphere, it is a bolt-on wastegate. It is also $10 cheaper than the LR unit, and there is no core charge. Plus, you could sell you stock wastegate and make a little money back (probably getting your final cost to $350).

Well, right, but the ports in the hotside are the same which is what I was shooting for......

So then, the LR is 40mm ... there you go. Should be vry equivalent in terms of flow to the 40mm Tial ($390). The only difference would be in 1) ease of installing, and 2) any difference in materials which might affect durability (for example, the type of material use for the diaphragm).
Since I will be dumping to atmosphere, it is worth it for me to go with Tial to avoid any core-charges, plus, I can sell my stock unit and recoup a little of my money back. Who knows, LR might buy it to use as a core for someone without a usable core.
