I'm selling an E-Code headlight (Cibie lenses) upgrade kit with a plug and play wiring harness, adjustable voltage regulator and overwatt bulbs. I have sold this kit in various versions to over two dozen Rennlist members. Go over to the main 924/944/951/968 board and ask for opinions and I'm sure you will get a few independent evaluations.

Your other easy alternative to conventional E-Code and H-4s is the newly released Sylvania Xenarc HID, DOT Code lights. They cost about $800 for the hardware, though. And I have not gotten my hands on a pair yet to compare performance to a rewired overwatt setup like I'm selling. So can't say if the Xenarc's even perform better, much less if the performance is worth the extra cost. I do know Sylvania had problems with the development of the round 7" lens and had to take a couple shots at it. Don't know if they completely solved the problems.

As far as your fogs, they can be replaced with the European version that has a fog and driving light in them. It is the same unit that you have now except has a working driving light side. Those lenses can be had for about $130 each.

You need to add wiring, switch and relay for the driving light. No wiring kits on the market right now are worth squat for that light. I'm not making one either as there is not enough demand. But if you wire that driving light up right and use 100 watt H3s, you will be putting out equal or more light as any arc HID light on the market.

Thumbs up

I upgraded my headlights with a 100/80 Hella H4 setup. I wired up a relay for low and one for high beam.

I used the passenger side stock wiring as my relay signal, ran wires inside a plastic loom under the nose panel over to the driver's light and hid the relays near the battery. I wired directly to the new bulbs using the stock plastic connector to hold my wires.

The only issue I ran into was mixing up Ground-High-Low and ending up with a pretty funky light pattern. <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> I eventually got it straightened out, and Iceshark was a great help too.

I'm EXTREMELY happy with the upgrade -- driving the depths of night through eastern Colorado was much more enjoyable. And I concur with Iceshark, just with my H4s, my output is rivalling the HID setups out there.

One thing to look out for, as was also mentioned in a previous thread is don't go for the Vision-Plus lenses, they're not the same as the Euro lenses. Make sure the ones you're getting are listed as "off road use only."

OK... time for more coffee.... c-ya!

Iceshark, Where can I order those european style fog lamps from? I've heard that Hella makes a kit, but for H1 to be installed in the driving light section. I feel that the 951's at sunset with dual fog lights on would be a great Kodak moment!!!

Cheers,

Gabe, Bosch makes the dual function lens, just as they make the one you now have with the blocked out driving side. I would stick with the original Bosch manufacture.

You can get them from Performance Products and a couple other mail order places that advertise in the rags. The trick is finding them on sale for cheap. Nowadays, if you can find them on sale for $125 each (without bulbs, which are H3s) you are doing great. I think Performance Products wants about 150 or 160 each, without bulbs.

I can check to see what I could get them for if enough of you are interested. To make it crystal clear, we are talking about the Turbo and S2 type of long light dual fog/driving lens.

Iceshark,

I've got one lense busted, and the other severely cracked. Count me in on the fog lenses.

Ok, Guys. I'm not sure how to put out the word best as I don't want to look too commercial/spammer type posting on the Discussion Forums. John D. has not bothered me, but none-the-less. The S2 guys will probably also be interested.

I've got a call in to my lens supplier and we shall see what we can do.

If there is enough interest, I can also put together a wiring kit with a switch, relay and such for the driving side. If not, I can at least get you some key commercial quality parts rather than the crap stuff.

The fog side is probably OK with stock wiring as it actually has a stock relay and you only want to burn a 55 watt bulb in there. Take a voltage measurement while burning and we can decide if anything needs to be done with that.

I'd be interested as well in a group buy

Iceshark, Sounds great. Thanks for the information. I would be interested in purchasing those euro's when you have a group price. They are on my list of cosmetics to buy after my 951 is running (thread on Barn Raising). KIT and I'll have the cash when your ready. Cheers

Gabe, I have the call going into Bosch Germany tomorrow morning and we shall see what they and the first tier distributor have to say.

I would like to be able to sell them for under $125 a copy, without bulbs. But, I have no clue what the base cost is at this point as they are a low volume item so could be anyone's guess. And then there is delivery time from factory.

To be clear, This is not exactly a group purchase. I'm going to make some money selling these if it pulls off. However, I have enough connections and pull at this point that if I have the volume, I can beat any other price by a fair margin. Just look at my bulb prices.

This will probably take a week to get an answer on pricing. If we could get 50 guys together, then we are cooking with gas!
