E46 M3 vs. 951
my cousin with the rx7 sold his car and is soon going to be getting a new E46 M3. It's going to be fully loaded with the SMG-II transmission. I might get the SFR stage two turbo before he gets the car. We are going to make a video from 40 to 120 shootout. i'll most likely still have my K26. How do guys think I'll do? I'll post the Video when It's done.

Having drivin my fathers new E46 I would say stock for stock the E46 would just crush a stock 951. But with some mods the lighter wieght of the 951 will come into its own. One thing is for sure, you'll never be able to out shift the SMG II. Once those transmission are broken in they are incredible. For my dime I would probably still take the strait drive because there is something about shifting on your own that adds to the experience.
The better test would be around a race track, but that is because I'm not big on drag racing.
So to anwser you question, I have no idea, but I'll be interested in the results before and after the new turbo.

I had an encounter with an E46 M3 while driving my friends 951 which is mostly stock except for the stage 2 chips. From 20-60 mph the M3 had an edge on me but after 80 mph when we cleared traffic Break My Wallet started loosing ground very fast all the way up to 145 mph when we ran out of pavement.
The M3 clearly had more power. But by the numbers in the books this M3 should have destroyed this 951. BMW definitely overrated their new car.

I have to see. I have the boost set at 15. Ape chips. I think i'll at least be able to keep up. When I get the new turbo and have it working the way I want, I think i'll burn him. Later.

Check out the Open Track Challenge results. The E46 M3 soundly beat all the 951s in its group. Actually, so did the older E36 and M-coupe as well... This was also on a variety of tracks under different conditions; part of the goal of the OTC.
