Raced a 2002 Taurus SHO V8 Last night
I was on the highway yesterday afternoon, going at a 80 mph cruising speed when all of the sudden a 2002 Ford Taurus SHO V8 pulls right beside me. At first I thought "what da hell it he thinkin". So anyway I persued to humiliate him by spankin his *** on the highway. So I didn't even down shift from 5th and floored it hitting 15 psi. But, to my surprise he was only about two car lengths behind me and I was going 120 mph and he was still about 3 car lenghts behind me. I thought I was going to really leave him in the dust. I am surprised on how quick those new Taurus are!
After I let him pull next to me he asked how much hp I am making, I said 300 hp (really 285 estimate), an he said he only has 260 hp, all of this said as we are driving next to each other at a constant 70 mph speed. He then speeded off and man that thing really takes off in high speed. I am still shocked on how fast that taurus is.

I'm almost positive the SHO taurus went away after 1999. It had a V8 and a slushbox for it's later years. Granted, the 1999 Taurus probably looks a LOT like the 2002,....
Now the Lightning.. watch out for those monsters. Try to run them in the twisties, if you must.

I raced a Jaguar XJ style car on the freeway the other night (don't know if it was a 6 or 12 cylinder). I pulled him pretty hard all the way from 70 up to 120 mph but not as hard as I thought I would. At most I probably put 7 or 8 car lengths on him up to 120. We did three runs, once with him right beside me (I hit it first and he tried to follow), once with him trying a flyby (I saw him coming and hit it and he never even made it to my back bumper before I started pulling away) and the last time I let him pass me then I hit it and easily passed him. Think I'm going to have to order some of Danno's chips to get the full power out of this car. Currently I have: 1989 951, K27/8, 3.0 FPR, APE Stage II, Bursch Test Pipe, LBE, Tial 46 mm wastegate. I also have a Greddy Profec B to install. But first thing is my VDO boost gauge.

I raced a 2002 M3 today with a turboS.......those things are quick!!!! We were in and out of traffic, so we didnt really have a chance to "go at it", but he was never in front of me. I once had a lightning spank me form stoplight to stoplight! It was modded, but those things really go too!!!!

The Lightnings are DAMNED quick trucks. They may be over 4000 lbs. and have the aerodynamics of a house but holy hell that blown and aftercooled V-8 howls! (I like it personally) Rumor has it that it will have TWIN blowers and a DOHC 5.4 soon because John Coletti the SVT guy will not allow Dodge's new Viper truck to dethrone his Lightning as the "World's fastest production truck"
HP WAR!!! woohoo!
Also, Ford is coming out with an AWD turbo focus to beat Subaru's WRX. If only it weren't ***-ugly and made out of milk carton plastic... they're projecting 280HP from the thing!
I like the numbers and the fact that factories are using turbo's again but why can't they put this in a street car instead of a lifted wagon-sedan looking rally car?

A ford lightning raced me on the freeway several months ago. I believe at the time I had an open exaust and chips. Pulled from him quite easily running @~15psi without a problem on an otherwise stock 86 turbo. But never raced one from a stop so dunno how well they'd do there...

Three Wheelin'
I ran into a supercharged VW scricsso (You try to spell it ;-) ) on the highway yesterday.
Suprisingly I couldn't pull on it and I wasn't able to get in front of it. We were about dead even, but thats quite a sleeper car he's got even if I'm only running 10-11psi (with 14psi spike).

I have a friend who used to have Scirroco with a totally built motor and running 22psi. The only car he ever lost to was a Testarossa and then it wasonly after he ran out of gearing.

yeah, he kept saying my car would beat him in a straight line, but I think that would only happen once I ran past his gearing (I'm sure our cars have higher gears... he shifted at least once maybe twice while I was making my way through 3rd)

WOW! Forced induction Sciroccos! I've always liked the 16v's- they DO have some short-*** gearing though- even for their normal power level- add 100+HP and see how it feels...
