Nik,

Re [quote]SATX 944T (Wayne): Very nice page you've got there, how much do you boost with your o-rings? What's the max boost you've tried?

The motor and the body are not yet back together so I cant tell you any boost figures just yet. When I get the 951 back together I'll be running it on less than max boost while I break the rebuilt engine - primarily because I havent yet upgraded the injectors to deliver the fuel needed by the larger turbo/MAF etc if I were to run it at high boost. I will have a trial and error process to go thru with fuel pressure and boost settings vs AF ratio before I find what boost I can run without leaning out. But with these stock injectors I am sure it will lean out well before I get to any "high" level of boost. So I guess it will be a little while before I stress test the head/orings.

Wayne.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you know I've replaced my headgasket now and I did make a 1 mm wide/0,45mm deep track (in the head) in the middle of fire ring. I went for a thicker one, 1,4mm vs 1mm (original) and I also installed a 3 bar FPR. I run approx 15 psi of boost and I'm running rich (A/F ratio)

Here are some pictures of the blown gasket (4:th cylinder) and everything mounted, I think my gasket looked very fresh if you compare to Dannos:

Nik,

In my old 2.5L it used double O-rings in the head w/receiving grooves in the cyl. liners. That is now considered an old school approach. It may/did work fine for the 2.5L. In the 3.1L, it uses concentric O-rings w/o an receiving groove. One in the liner and one in the head. Both w/stainless wire. 20+Lbs. of boost, all the way to 7000 RPM. Never had a leakage problem, knock on wood.

86944turbo: "One in the liner and one in the head. Both w/stainless wire. 20+Lbs. of boost, all the way to 7000 RPM." That I don't doubt...I would say "bullet proof" construction!

Konstantin: Interresting reading, are you running with bigger injectors..replaced EFI? Have you got some more info to me about your machine? What other upgrades do you have?

no bigger injectors just a MAF and an ARC2. I use a 4.05 bar FPR and adjust this with the ARC2 along with some custom chips for a k27.

I have the bigger injectors at my desk and I will install them one day but at the Momment I do not see a need for them ;-)
