I do not post much to the board, but all of you have been a valuable source of information and now I need some help. I have had my car fo about 2 years and thought I had my sunroof finally working correctly, but on a high speed run across the bridge to my house the sunroof pulled itself open on the passenger side at about 135. I can reset it when I stop, but now it has began doing it at a lower speed of about 90. I do not see any alignment difference between the drivers or passengers and ther are no cracks in the components. I am trying to decide if it would be best to just take it apart the gears and replace the metal components. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Same thing happened to me - sunroof popped open at 130+ - yikes! I figured out that the motor retracts the arms too far - they are too close to the ends of the plastic mounts in the sunroof so under extreme pressure they'll squeeze by. I was able to get my sunroof to pop open by pushing hard from underneath.
I also noticed that the last little bit that the arms are being retracted doesn't make the roof any tighter. So now I just hit the "up" button a little to position the arms off the end. When I do this the roof is just as tight but I can't push it open with lots of pressure - nor does it look like it would ever open. Most importantly, it doesn't open at high speed - I've tested it at 145.
I've never gotten around to looking in the manual to see if I can adjust it to not retract the arms so far.

You know, the same thing happened to me! The other night, a 924S flew by me (must've been amaf), and I had to completely floor my heavily-modified 951 and wring every last rev out of it just trying to keep up .
At around 180-190mph, I could see the red glow under his car from the twin-turbos just screaming madly away at full boost pushing the automatic 924S to just a hair over 191mph (or was that from neon floorboards?). I probably wouldn't have been able to keep up if it wasn't for my bike-racing instincts of immediately pulling in behind for a draft as he went by. But I was completely maxed out and redlined at 7,000rpm in TOP GEAR, and he was still puling away!!!
<img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> As I drifted back, I got caught up in the turbulent tail-end of his jet-wash, the vacuum completely sucked up and ripped my Saratoga top completely off!!! <img src="graemlins/crying.gif" border="0" alt="[crying]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
So the moral of this story??? Keep your sunroof microswitches adjusted on the tight side!!!

OK guys now that I know what to fix can someone pass on how to adjust the microswitches for the auto illiterate. I am new to this do it yourself thing, but am willing to learn. this might bring up a good question as to what is a good source for literature on repairing all areas of our cars?
Danno....I thought I was crazy. We have a four mile bridge to drive across to get to our house with no street lights and I rolled mine out to the 160 on the dial, but the car still seemed very stable. I know there were a few scared drivers who heard and saw a UFO, but it was just me and the wife out for a joy ride.
She really gets into this speed thing
All of her friends thinks she is nuts <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" /> because she talks about going 100 as just cruising! You gotta love her

Dan P....Thanks for the link. It has all of the info I will need. I actually was able to get it completely apart and found part of the problem was that the base casing that holds the sunroof gears and cable was fractured along the edge. Picked up the part today and hope to get it back together tomorrow.

Dan P....Just wanted to thank you again for the link on the sunroof. It did come in handy and I have now replaced the bottom casing as well as made sure all is working correctly.
P.S. Danno, went out and tested the sunroof to make sure it stayed on this time. Pulled between 140-145
on the speedo with no ill effects to the sunroof. When I took it apart I bent the bar out just a hair to see if that would help hold it against the catch and it did seem to help.
