Still I bet it would be beast of a motor

Even if they only run 7-10psi on that motor, it is gonna put down some serious power.

Drool....

[EDIT] And after checking the thread, it is John N.'s motor, and it is a Calloway car.

It's a damn shame that a 928 V8 won't fit in a 944 engine bay.

I hope he doesn't blow an exaust gasket!

He'll never get the header off the engine once its installed into the car.

And those headers are called 'log style' headers. They are about as bad as you can get.

well, I am not sure you can't fit a 928 motor in 944 engine bay. I had 928S and engine bay is about the same size as ours. Especially one of the older, smaller 4.5 L.

I have seen vid footage of supercharged 928. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Smokes the tires in about every gear.

In a boosted application even a log manifold performs pretty good and many prefer them since they are very strong.

Log manifolds are junk. They are a poor design, have horrible flow characteristics & create unnecessary back pressure.

The reason people use them is that they are a "no brainer" to build, and don't require any piping skills to fabricate, and are easy to fit.

And... they aren't strong just because they are a log style.

Strength comes from the metal they, or any other header, are made of.

Iron log style OEM headers are stong... because they're made of cast iron.

Mild steel, or even 304SS (when used in a turbo application) isn't strong, and will crack.

And they don't perform "pretty good". The turbo performs "pretty good". And that's what you're feeling. But the additional back pressure created by the log style header is most definitely hurting the performance potential.
