Default Fuel pump for E85

Obviously i need a larger fuel pump to run e85. The stock one isn't up to it. I haven't tried and not going.

I have no experience in fuel pumps but all i know is:

Walbro 255 - Cheapest one at $120, Apparently the company are a$s holes to deal with if anything goes wrong.

Bosch 044 - at $200, Most people use use this one, but apparently it's noisy and wont last on e85?

Fuelab 41401 - Between $460 - $600 (depends where i buy it) Suppose to be really good, Quiet? fitting this looks like PITA as it is -10an in/out. And it says works on all fuels which would be a good thing. i could go with a Fuelab inline filter which would make the install easer?, but i wouldn't have a clue where to buy the filter element or if you can clean them.

Thanks,

You've taken your own path so far, I say go with the Fuellab (mostly because I'm interested in it if my Walbro dies )

044. what does not last mean? I saw the post and those numbers sounded something like. " It may die tomorrow, it might last a lifetime" I'm using it, but can't help you as far as reliability because I only have 250 miles on it. .... BTW, odds are, if you use 93 octane, you've been running at least 10% ethanol for a very long time....
I'm just not worried that the 044 won't last.. So my opinion.. and only that with no real facts... is to use the 044.

Same boat I am in. First year of running it and so far, so good. I will store it over the winter with gas rather then E85.

I've heard and seen the 044 is a good unit on pump/petrol but not much on e85. id rather go for the 044 over the rest but if facts show it wont last then id go for a different unit.

Nah, Our petrol (petroleum or "gas") are like this: 91, 95, 95E10, 98, 100E10 RON and i run 98 RON

No hard data other than experiences of others. Before buying mine I checked around with a local Audi tuner and he had been using them with e85 for over 5 years. He has well over 50 cars around this area running it, and has not seen any issues so far. Most have ran it since it was available locally, which I think is around 4-5 years now. Some are pretty high hp urs4's, but most are daily drivers.

IMO the 044 is good enough.

044 is the way to go pauly. The only reason the 044 are seen as loud is because some guys ii the tuning world hard mount them to the body. Like any fuel pump they should be insulated. Both Patrick and I have been using the 044 on our cars with e85 and they have been more then up to the task.

I will tell you how my pump fairs it you can do the same!

Remember to use a large gauge wire to supply the extra current the pump pulls.
