86 - 944T Oil cooler fitting size ?
after I decided to commit my car to a winter re-build / TEC-III, turbo, and other misc items that Ive been trying to get to. I decided to place an after market OIL COOLER in place of the stock unit (I will use that unit on my 968 conv project),
now after removing the oilfilter housing (I dont know what to call it) and disconnecting the stock cooler lines, Ive been having one heck of a time trying to find a shop that carries the piece that threads in and converts to a 10-AN style of fitting.
my question.
???--- WHAT IS THE FITTING SIZE THAT PORSCHE USED ON ITS OIL COOLER --- ???
Like I said before Ive been to almost every shop in colorado springs trying to find it and evey one is stumped. I would like to get the fittings done, before I decide to try out the TEC-III (about a month from now).. any one know what size these fittings are, or completed the same mod on thier car.
thanks. mike

I bought my Mocal cooler and metric to AN adapters from them, I think they are 22 mm and I went with -12 hoses.

[quote] What is the benefit to upgrade the Oil-cooler?

Our cars heat up at the track and a larger oil cooler keeps the oil temp lower for better
oil pressure and lubrication.

My reason for a bigger oil cooler
by hybrid_944
When I decide to use my led foot (which is almost every on ramp, interstate, and occasional race track) I notice something.. my oil pressure will drop when my temp goes up. thus = bad jojo.
no seriously. When im driving hard for about 3 min. Ill notice that my oil pressure drops from 4.5 bar to about 3.1ish bar. when this first happened to me. I freaked out thinking it was the oil relief valve. then let the engine cool. to see what would happen.. what do you know.. ti ran at the 4.5 bar mark.. well. I learned an important lesson..
when one must use heavy foot in hot weather, be shure to cool important fluids, or freaking out may occur

I've read, somewhere, on the board that the stock oil-cooler from an older rx-7 is a good upgrade for our cars. I think Danno mentioned it in a post awhile back, but don't hold me to that.

I have sold a kit for adding an oil cooler to 951s for about 7 years. You are welcome to contact me at trymorris@***.net and I will try to answer your oil cooler questions.
Thanks
