Turbo Water Fittings 3/8 NPT WTF
I have a Vitesse stage 2 turbo and I'm trying to come up with some solution to plumb the thing with water and not interfere with the intake manifold or intake manifold front support. I've got the whole setup figured out and I've seen that it will work, except I cannot get a fitting that will go in the turbo. The turbo is 3/8 NPT and I have confirmed that by retapping it. All of the 3/8 NPT to -8an fittings I get are just slightly too wide to fit in. It appears that they are the correct size, the threads just come out too far. I've had Summit send me 3 different fittings from 3 different manufacturers with no luck. When I get a regular pipe fitting from the hardware store, it fits just fine. I can't use the ones from the hardware store, though, because I need a 3/8 NPT to -8AN fitting. I really don't want to special order a 3/8 NPT die to correct brand new fittings. This is getting ridiculously frustrating. Do auto fitting manufacturers use a different standard that pipe manufacturers and turbo manufacturers? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Never thought about this . I just used the fitting from vitesse "that airtool like type". When i get home tomorrow i will try a few NPT to AN adapters i have lying around home and see if i become any wiser . I wil use AN fitings for the Oilfeed as i have a restrictor on my vitesse turbo did you have any problems fitting anything there ?

Where did you get the turbo from? The thread should be M16 x 1.5..
The brass adapter Adonay refers to is a part we make in house.

THe 3/8 NPT kind of fits it has tapered threads. But, like John said, that isn't the correct size.
This is what I am using.
AER-FBM1524
Fitting, Hose End, AQP Socketless, 45 Degree, -10 AN Hose Barb to Female -10 AN, Aluminum, Red/Blue
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AER-FBM1524/
EAR-9919FFJERL
Fitting, Straight, AN Flare to Metric, -10 AN to 16mm x 1.5 Male, Aluminum, Blue Anodized
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EAR-9919FFJERL/
Here is what several have done. THe brass threads are soft and with the tapper, will tighten up even if it isn't the correct size. I tried this but went to the setup above.

Basically, you extend the neck of the pipe, as you can see between the far left stock one and the two on the right ....
There are a few threads on this but I can't find the one that I am looking for !!
kevincnc did a great job on one and helped me with mine

Hi John
WOW I never saw one of those ( except the small one on the Turbo S intake Mani
Where did you find that ?
Yep David
By far and away the easiest, least time spent, and cheapest way to do it ...
I was just to **** to give up the front intake brace ... Every time I work on the engine bay I lean on it but in hindsight it would have saved so much of my time

Eddie, can you post a picture that is not car ****. That piece looks amazing.
Brian, are you not using a temp sensor? Does the auxiliary pump just run all the time?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I originally went with the 1" coupling, short temp sensor, and removed the front intake support as David described. I accidentally snapped the wire from the temp sensor and I don't like not having the front support so I wanted a new approach. Now I am doing exactly what Pauly did and on my initial test fit, everything looks like it's going to clear just fine with the front support in place.
Also, I finally have the proper fitting for the turbo. I'm still confused as to why the 3/8 NPT tap turned effortlessly in the turbo, but the 3/8 NPT fitting wouldn't fit.
