996TT front brakes 964TT rear brakes- Proportioning valve question
#16
What about powder coating the brakes. Going one further, what about: http://www.harborfreight.com/10-30-p...tem-94244.html ? Because for the price I can see myself having quite a bit of fun powder coating all sorts of small things around the house, and I already have a pretty large toaster oven that I have turned into a parts warming/baking oven.

I have always had the strange desire to chrome plate some calipers….it would make it a lot easier to clean them!
I can’t figure out why nobody has ever done that (I haven’t seen it).

Whats so hard about removing the pistons, cleaning the pistons and bores, installing new seals and hardware, and calling it a day? Overhauling an otherwise healthy caliper isnt quite rocket science, the only hard part would be cleaning it and getting it ready for powder coating....if youre into that stuff....

You are right. It's not a big deal.More you do these, easier it gets. First timers might find difficult to remove certain parts and when they have problems they don't necesserily have the right tools to handle these problems. Imho just putting new parts to over 20-year old calipers is not wise. If you are there, why don't make it properly.
That's one possibility. Quite hobby-oriented system, which might handle it, if you do powder coating occasionally.

Olli, are the bleeders on the wrong end of the caliper?
FWIW, the G2 caliper paint will do 4 calipers, goes on easy, looks great. Its only been 6 months, so I cant comment on durability, but its a caliper, not exactly a concours required finish....
