Flushing oil from engine
For those of you that have rebuilt engines, how did you flush the various oil pipes, accessories etc from old particle filled oil? With my engine,
since I spun the rod bearings, the block and pan and crank will be cleaned before re-assembly, but what about the oil cooler, turbo, cam area etc. How do you flush those areas?

Hey -
You can flush most of those items with a simple can of brake cleaner, or anything solvent-like. Make SURE that you're not using a solvent on anything that's sealed, and then running that item prior to lubing it up with oil though.
Anything on the larger side I strongly suggest you have dipped in a hot tank to really clean it out.
That would mean the block, head, cam tower, oil pan, etc. The oil cooler you could flush with a little pressurized brake cleaner, as well as the turbo's oil housing.
Don't forget to take apart and clean the oil pump itself!
HTH!
