Fantastic pics, thanks for sharing.

Sadly, all I can think about when I look at the engine pics is "How the heck do you get those $#$%@ing distributor cap screws off with it on the back of the cam tower?". I have to get out more...

My guess is dry sump oil supply for the cam journals (that's not the head).

That is sexy. I wander how much it would cost to get our engine like that lol.

Ah, right. I knew it wasn't the head, but I didn't notice the other picture where you could see they weren't connected to anything else.

I was there also Saturday and Sunday. Here's the specs on the GTR.
Also the 1971 16 cylinder 917 Lemans car that was built but never raced.

I assume the rear suspension is the standard GTR suspension. All aluminum construction, full adjustment. No shared parts with the street cars (well, maybe a couple that I don't know about).

Isnt this the car that was built and never raced?

You can see the balance shaft belts in the pictures – Porsche tried balance shaftless engines in their early 924GTR (really a 944 16v turbo!) LeMans efforts – they found it was not a good idea due to parts failures from high order harmonic vibrations.

I have to agree with them.

The GTR is an amazing car - a TRUE race car!
Built from scratch with only one purpose - to go fast without compromises. That's why the GTR has double A-arms suspension front and rear etc.

All in contrast to factory unit race series where you get a stock car with a few minor improvements (like the Turbo Cup).

The only thing I don't like is the mirror polish everywhere. Looks out of place on a purpose built race car. Plus the fact you could never race a car with mirror polished floor and door panels inside the cabin

675hp @ 26psi... I wonder if that is the qualifying level of boost? Wouldn't it be hard to keep an 8V alive for very long with that much boost and that many revs. Was this car only intended for short sprint races and not endurance events?

And that 16 cylinder 917 is ridiculous, it'd be like driving a 550 Spyder with 900hp. Just imagined if they turbo'd that monster. You'd have no need for a seat belt, your *** will be biting the seat hard even in a straight line.

Wrong about us as usual Reno.

Some we do, some we don't. Customer makes the final decision based on
pro's and con's. Once they decide, we give them what they want.

And there is a ' in doesn't.
