Hi,
Can anyone explain in detail what is cross drilled crankshaft & how is it done on the
951 crank. I've been researching the subject
& I've got different answers even from books

Thiland, last time I was over there I saw an IU sticker on a car...small world. Were do you find a road that isn't packed with cars so you can open it up a little?

Check out this thread.

Hey Beab,
Thanks alot. You'd be suprise there's lots of
place to open her up. Looking at the discussion
about this thread, I'm quite suprise that Porsche did not drill the journal oil feed at the furthest end of the journal. I've not examine the crank yet but from what I've seen in other engines, they are always drilled that way. Hmmm
Porsche must have slip over this one.

Yeah, that oil-hole on the side of the rod-journal is quite odd, eh? On all the motorcycles I've worked on, the oil-hole is always at the ouside-end of the journal and they rev to 12-13k RPMs with no bearing problems...

Hey Danno,
When you cross drill the crank, must we plug
up the original hole ? If so what is the best
method ? I was thinking of drilling the new
hole off centre from the position that we're
talking about. Worried about weakening the
journals. What do you think ?
