Default Chips

Looking at purchasing some chips. My car is stock except for LBE and Stebro cat back with cat removed (all 2.5 inch). Mods in the future will include waste gate and manual boost controller (eliminating the LBE) nothing drastic.

The Lindsey 951 max chips seem to work with a lot of different parameters. Are these my best bet?

I prefer the baked lays chips. Actually for the porsche pringles keep your steering wheel from getting greasy. Just kidding buddy. Everyone I have talked to will say go with rogue tuning on stuff like that. Also that shifter in your profile pic is that installed in your 944?.

You can't go wrong the LR 951 max chips and of course, there are other options based on your budget and goals.

www.roguetuning.com get the A-Tune. There is no comparison on the market for what it does and it's the same price as a set of chips. I don't know why the LR Max chips are still $300 because there is really no reason to buy them anymore.

Second the Roguetuning, Its a little more involved than installing chips but for the same price you get the ability to upgrade later. Max chips after you're finished with them sell for 150 Thats the same price you will get off of the roguetuning MAF kit when you decide to upgrade.

I've got a Vitesse Racing 26/6 turbo AFM chip for stock injectors and stock fuel pressure regulator. It is tuned to run up to 15 PSI with either stock CV, MBC or LBE boost control (just don't exceed 15 psi of boost). Been running it for 1.5 years. I put this chip in when I had stock exhaust w/cat, stock wastegate and stock CV boost control. Now running with SFR 3" exhaust cat pipe, 3" magnaflow cat with Lindsey dual port wastegate with the same chip. Runs great with both of my setups. The chip will be coming off my car soon as I have a MAF setup on order. I also have the original paperwork that came with the chip.

Do you have a wide band?

I do not have a wide band...I do have a VDO boost gauge and watch to ensure I'm below 15psi. This chip is safe up to 15 psi per Vitesse. Wide band is on my future upgrade list for sure...probably Innovate Motorsport. Currently waiting on delivery of M-tune setup that is on order.

Yep what he said. I have the MAX chip and it works. But at the same price point the Rouge A tune is a no brainier and from the reports the drive-ability is much improved over the Max chip.

Ditto - just go RogueTuning A-Tune if you want to stick with the stock AFM. No contest.

Speaking of standalone's, which one(s) would work well with an otherwise stock 951?

I have a set of 951MAX chips but have been looking at other options, including the A-Tune and/or M-Tune.

Most standalones that I have seen are a pretty intensive install with quite a bit of tuning. Don't know if the effort would be worth it on an otherwise stock car. The interface and overall control of a standalone system is awesome tho.

Jpop8807: Yes that is the shifter in my 951.

esmith904: How much do you want for your chips? I assume there's one for the DME and one for the KLR.

Sounds like I need to check out roguetuning as well. Thanks for all the feedback!

I'll PM you some more details. Vitesse AFM chips only modifies code on the DME chip, and you continue using stock KLR chip. Mine is a 24pin for 1986 and early 1987.
