LR has a MUCH better gasket... rubber coated aluminum. It's not gonna squish out, and it's reusable. Well worth the money if you ask me. They've got a matching rear cam cover gasket too... screw that cork thing!!

Matt I thought about installing one when I did the timing belt ~ 3 years ago(maybe 2). I never expected this gasket to give up. I guess I learned my lesson.

I can say that combining LR intake manifold gaskets combined with Saturn studs sure did make for quick work when I had to swap my blown 26/6 out for a Super 53 a few weeks back...

By the way I left the car parked at a American legion property with the leak. Next day I had two guys stop in the period of 90 minutes asking me all sort of questions about the car meanwhile I was waiting for the flatbed. At work I get a lot of compliments about the car(lots of car nuts). The tow truck guy offered me $8500 as is. I kinda wanted to sell it but I really enjoy this car, and I said maybe down the line. Man my wife she's not happy. I Promised her I'll get her SUV after Christmas.

I should probably qualify my recommendation by saying that I don't have any long-term experience with the LR gasket. I decided to give it a try because of everything I've read about the paper gaskets failing... I'll let you know how it works out in 5 or 10 years (I hope).

i recently did cam tower gasket..leaked after 2 wks..
one poster suggested taking bottom bolts off one st a time and clean holes .. oil with qtip..it causes you to think its torqued properly but actually oil on bottom leaves a gap....doing cam gasket oil gets everywhere etc...very helpful tip from a poster
