The title says it all. I am just sick of paying retail for this stuff ... any help for a cheaper source would be appreciated.
Thanks

Two posibilities. First find someone who changes thir oil between track events and use their oil. Second, sometimes Wallmart has a 4 or 5 qt. container which saves 20% maybe. Jerry

I've found that my local CostCo store has it for less than any auto-parts place in town. I only comes in cases, but at least I don't have to pick out 8-quarts at a time.
Great source of batteries too. Picked up a smaller-than-stock one with 72-month warranty for $35 and saved 5lbs at the same time!

All really depends on the condition of the engine seals. Synthetic motor oil are great as they resist thermal breakdown better than anything out there. However, since they are very "thin," if the engine seals have seen better days, synthetic oil will find the weak spots come out in great abundance.
I personally would recommend a good, quality fossil-based motor oil. Just be attentive to frequent oil changes. It is much easier on the wallet if you are a "do it yourself" enthusiast. You can stick to a strick schedule of 3K or 6 months (whichever comes first). And don't forget to change the oil filter too (cheap insurance).

I use amsoil 10-40 and change every 3k miles or 3 months...I'm not sure about the 3 months...is that too often?
I just changed to amsoil from castrol dino oil and notice no new oil leaks on a 72k miles car.
