mass air flow
is it possible to use and stock mass flow meter that fits say and escort or some other model that i can buy for under $100 and then use and arc2 controller or such to compensate has any one tryed this if so give example and results thanks people this is one great web site

Yeah, the GM unit won't work because they have a frequency output as opposed to a straight voltage-range output. It also depends upon what car you're installing it into as well. The early 944NAs had different voltage-outputs on the AFM than the later cars.

On a normally-aspirated cars, the gains will be minimal. Like most NA upgrades, you're just shifting the powerband around, but not changing its size by much. Typically taking power away from the lower-RPMs and piling it up top.
On the 951s, much more significant gains can be had. Typically you want to do an MAF upgrade along with larger turbos, larger fuel-injectors, custom-programmed dyno-tuned chips, and a free-flow exhaust.
