Post Must go FASTER! I have a need....a need for

SPEED!

Alrighty, heres the deal, i go very fast now, but I have this insatiable need for speed.

I have already: Stage II MAF, performance Banjo Bolt, DME/KLR stage II chips, cat-bypass exhaust, 8mm ignition wires, and cat-back high flo exhaust.

What should be next (smartly) along my lines of progressively going faster?
Should I worry about the fuel pressure regulator soon? Oil pressure?
Can someone who has gone farther than this tell me what the smart track to take is?

Thanks tons!
Life is short! GO FAST!

Give John @ Speedforce Racing a call (619) 507-9300 and they'll give you as much speed as you can handle! The primary upgrades you need next are:
  • larger turbo
  • aftermarket EFI system
The rest are incremental upgrades to these.

Danno is right, John is building a monster for me right now.

Just decide how much you want to spend and SFR can take care of you.

Power the more you have the more you want!!!

Porsche951racer,

I'm considering doing exactly the same for my car, as your current setup.

Do you have a dyno curve for your car?

I love speed too; however, I'm wondering how long you all expect your engines to last?

I've read about 944s with 400-500 hp, which is amazing. But, the life of a race engine is measured in hours, not years. I'm sure most of us are fans of some sort of motor racing and you can see the mechanics tearing down engines right there on T.V. Pro dragster engines get new engine parts between runs or heats on the same day (night).

So, realistically, what's the longevity on engines with oversized turbos, etc?

Actually, the beauty of a larger displacement motor ( I love bore vs stroke) is the fact that you get 400+hp running less boost thats needed for a stocker to reach the 300hp mark!

Add to that, chromoly rods (much stronger than stock), lighter crank (less mass on the block and girdle)custom forged race pistons, a lighter piston rod combo for less stress on the entire rotating assembly (even though its much larger than stock each rod piston combo comes in about 1/2 lb lighter than stock!)

Above all, LESS BOOST! You can expect 400+ at the tires with our motors at 18-19psi! This is the same boost stockers with MAF kits run to achieve near or at 300hp at the tires.

So, how long will the motor last...since its overbuilt for its purpose, I guess its up to the owner...will he/her take care of the engine, tune it, and be aware of whats going on when running hard?

For the amount of cash they spend...I assume they will :-) Expect many years of happy boosting.

Take Care!

JA,

I'm a 911 guy who is seriously considering buying a 944 this Spring for 2002 DE here in the Northeast. So, you can appreciate my interest in the durability of worked 944 engines.

Given the so-called "bullet proof" nature of Porsche's boxer engine, I was wondering how the water-cooled four-bangers hold up. You have answered my question and I will now start looking in earnest. Thanks!

Hi Richard,

The hp numbers that are being pumped out the the track duty 944/951's are hard to argue. Good luck in your search, and please call me if you have ANY questions regarding the purchase of or modifying your new 944/951! I would be happy to answere any questions you may have!

Take Care!

So, how much money for such a wonderful motor like that?
