MY02's on a 86' 951
Just picked up a set of MY02's and I wanted to confirm my needs in terms of spacers and to try to find out if I will need to roll my fenders.
Car
86' 951 early offset (23.3mm)
wheels
996.362.136.03: 18"x8" 50mm offset (front)
996.362.140.03: 18"x10" 65mm offset (rear)
Tires
225/30/18 (front)
285/40/18 (rear)
From searching and reading alot of old posts, it looks like 30mm spacers will work for the front and either 38mm or 42mm spacers will work on the rear.
After calculating the backspacing and comparing to the backspacing of the 16" dials I now have on the car (and factoring in the additional width of the new tires), it appears the mentioned spacers will work. Does anyone have a simular setup that says other wise? will the fenders need to be rolled? Any suggestions on which spacer to run in the rear?
Any help or input would be appreciated.

Yes those rears WILL be entirely too tall, I run MY02s on my 87, same offsets, with 285/35/18 which are within 5 mm diameter of the origional tires...IIRC
those 40 series tires would be about 3.5 inches larger in circumference than my wheels... throwing off your acceleration, speedometer, and odometer...
FWIW, CPR had the same wheels on his 86 with spacers, try shooting him a PM to ask about the spacers.. although he isn't on here much anymore...
ALSO, ou can run a larger aspect ratio in teh front as opposed to teh rear as the narower front tire will result in an equal circumference tire with a higher spact ratio than the wide rears... IIRC 245/40/18 and 285/35/18 end up almost perfectly matched size wise... and if you lower the suspension at all they WILL rub!

I asked CPR about this and I think he told me 27 mm up front and 31 mm to run the same rims on my '86. I'll double check but you can also search my created threads since I brought it up on here in the past.

Per CPR:
I got a good deal on some 27 mm's for the front and will most likely go with 32 mm's in the rear.
FRONT:
28mm on the front with a 225.
REAR:
Unless you roll the rear fender lip, you will have to make a lot more adjustments on the rear set up than just a spacer (camber/ ride height/etc...). 285's are T-I-G-H-T......and don't even attempt if you do not have new or VERY good~condition stout rear shocks.
However assuming that you do have the above you should be @ 31mm
