I have a Weltmeister chip set.....
That was in the glove compartment of my '89 Turbo when I bought it, and want to know if they come in different "stages", or they are all the same. The numbers on them are: TC-8220 DME and TC-8220 KLR. It also came with the stock DME chip but not the KLR chip. I don't know what the chip is that the car is running now, but I am going to find out tomorrow. Is the Weltmeister a good chip to run.....since I have it already, depending what is currently being used, would it be good to install......the price is "right" on it. I've had a couple of different turbos before, but never a 944 T, so this is all new to me. TIA.......

As far as I know Weltmeister only had 1 chip design.
The Welt chip not only came w/ the chips but also a wastegate shim to increase boost. I don't know what kind of extra power you'll make over stock chips, if any, without the shim. But, be sure you don't have the shim in there if you put the stock chips in.
The Welt chips were pretty decent. My car came w/ them and I ran them for several years, including a lot of track work with no issues. I had to downgrade back to stock chips when I started racing in stock classes.

weltmeister came in 2 settings
one for the 86 turbo which is the 8200
and one for the 89 which has no 8 hothouse on the turbo ,which is 8220 which was designed for 0.9 boost with a 3 mm wastegate shim
and 3 bar fuel pressure regulator(very important). When used as a set ,gives good road/track performance but thats about it.
hope it helps.
