wow, danno... thats pretty bad. at least it got fixed though... i hate hearing horror stories like that. anyway, mike, those 2 a/r's are the size above and below .63. i havent checked out the site you're looking at, but if they are selling for the 944 it could have to do with the crossover pipe. i've read about a couple people trying a .63 a/r and the crossover pipe required machining; i cant confim this myself yet (but it makes sense). supposidly the 2 a/r's above and below the .63 are much easier to mate up. who knows... but chances are you'll have to do a little custom plumbing or flanging anyway so dont let it be a concern. pick the turbo that you're comfortable with and the rest you can make work.

I would recommend what I've got on my car to anyone. It's Huntley Racing "Stage 2" turbo, with a 3" inlet. It was manufactured by Majestic Turbo in Texas somewhere, and is actually a T04E, 57 trim I believe. Throw in some 52 lb/hr Bosch injectors from Marren Motorsports, upgraded chips (I still use my APE Stg2 chips designed for the K26), adj. fpr, HR Stg3 MAF with ARC2 Rev.2 fuel controller, wastegate, and boost controller. Expect about 310rwhp at 15psi of boost, 325rwhp at 18psi, and up to 340rwhp+ at 20psi+. It works very well with the 2.5L stock displacement, with not much lag.

You could get any and all those things for half the price from somewhere else... the phrase "stage 2" doesnt make it any better.

Could someone describe what the a/r value is used for and why one is better for a particular application?

Thanks!

I haven't priced it out, but I do imagine it would be cheaper to buy the same turbo from the source - ie. in my case Majestic Turbos. Regarding fuel injectors though, I'd say Marren Motorsports does have the best prices around for Bosch injectors. I did a lot of research before I bought mine, and I wish anyone good luck finding them at half the price somewhere else. My 52 pounders work just fine with my DME, but I have heard of guys having problems with smoking at idle with 55's. However, that might have also been related to them having too large of an MAF sensor, and the airflow is just too low at idle to get a proper signal. My afpr is set at a very low 2.5bar though, as anything higher would make me run rich, even with adjusting the ARC2. I'd imagine that an injector much larger than my 52 (unless it's controlled by an engine management system) could have mixture problems at idle.

OK ive had it, the email lists are useless!
does any one have any idea what the a/r ratios of the hotsides of the k26/6 an k26/8 are?

Also how to decide weather to go with the 57 or 60?

ianm, i'll try to avoid the tone of your post and keep this above board. you said it's a huntley racing "stage 2" turbo, which retails for $1300 (unless you got the BB, which makes $1600)... you could have bought a new garrett t04e with a 57 trim and any a/r you want from www.turbochargers.com for $770. you also said you bought the bosch 52's from marrian motorsports; the have competitive prices for the bosch's. but, siemann's injectors cost literally half the price at low impedence, are rated at 3 more lb/hr at 3 bar, and are identical in design and shape. siemann's are bosch knock off's, with the same quality and design. you also said you got a HR MAF, but didnt say what "stage." HR's cheapest MAF retails for $1195. a maf that performs identically would cost 675 from modern performance (i realize the hr maf includes a fuel managment computer and air / fuel meter, which again can be had for less then the $420 price difference); and if you looked into it further you'd find that you could accomplish the same upgrade by changing the spring preload on the stock bosch air flow meter and attaching a k&n cone filter (if you so desire, personally i dont like the idea of sucking warm air from behind the intercooler). the standard bosch afm is a butterfly hooked to a spring assembly (just like your throttle body) which turns a potentiometer to signal the dme what the current airflow is. put a stronger spring on and you've saved yourself at least 675 right there... my point isnt to argue with you though. i'm sure you did your homework and you're quite satisfied; my point was most of the parts you named can be had significantly cheaper elsewhere.

Ok, so if you had to chose between MAF and upgrading to a new turbo? What would choice be?

Assuming all other variables are constant.

Sorry Jeremy, it's been a long day. When I read your post, it sounded like you were criticizing my judgement in selecting upgrades, and I thought you got the wrong impression when I said my turbo was a "stage 2". I since toned down my post. Anyways, if I was the person who posted this thread, I'd give the experts at Majestic Turbo or elsewhere a call regarding specific A/R, trim, etc details.

Jeremy,

What are the additional upgrades needed to run the turbo model you mentioned? i.e. injectors, fpr, etc?

Also, what is the hp/tq gain on that model?
