If you could use any suspension for that car, why the 944? I realize you're quite attached to the 944 but let's be realistic as to the 944 suspension design qualities (or lack of) versus other suspension you could adapt. Seems like a lot of work to use a suspension of decent but not superior design. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the 944. However, if you can put ANY suspension in the car, the 944 wouldn't make the top of my list, even if it was easily accessible. I do like the newer V8 idea, though.

I knew you could not resist posting this project even though you have now created a deadline for yourself. Now where is the part about Cathy wanting to drive a Mustang?????

Cool project. How much for a Cayenne V8 from a wrecker?

All true, but keep in mind that very few suspensions, how ever modern and complicated, manage to equal the steering feel of the 944. This is not a race car, it's a street car and I have yet to drive a sub 50k car with better feel than a well kept up 944.

Also keep in mind that I have tons of 944 suspension parts and I really know how to set one up!

BTW - the mounting holes for the 944 crossmember end up dead center on the frame rails and the body width difference the 944 and the '65 Mustang is a tenth of an inch.

So.... Got any good connections at Ford for a good deal on a crate engine?!?!

BTW - any truth to the rumor that the heads were designed to accommodate direct injection?

The Coyote engine is a nice piece of work!

Hey, since you've got all the stuff there, care to see how feasible it would be to stuff one of those in a 944 chassis? It is a whole lot smaller than the old 32V Mods.

I've said on this board more than once that the US has the best engineers in the industry, but they are handcuffed by the finance guys. One of the smartest engineers I've known did most of the upper end work. He and I were working on this for a year before it became program. We just didn't think a lot of things in the cycle plan made sense.

I need to send you a follow-up e-mail from our discussion last week. I'll mention a few tidbits.

I'm checking on it, but there wasn't anything official like there are for cars, at least that I knew of. One of my former co-workers is now with Ford Motorsports. He's a fellow racer, so he also knows some of the better channels externally.

Yep, 420 (or 440+ with the Boss manifold) hp from an emissions compliant 5.0 engine (and most people that have pit one dyno feel that is a low number).

Hmmmm.....how does that compare to a stock 928?

Many things on the 'project' list!

I did change one thing - its getting a 928 32v motor now. I figured that if I ma going to **** off both the Ford and Porsche purists I should do it all the way!

I have the 5.0 32v motor hear and I am (slowly) working on a individual throttle body set up for it.

If we have no issue getting 400 rwhp from a 2.5L you shouldn't have any issues with 800 hp TT v8

The Coyote motor is actually a much nicer motor from a technical stand point - but this one is not about max power, its more about fabrication and 'shock' factor!
