alot of left to right play in shifter when in gear

Default alot of left to right play in shifter when in gear

any ideas where to look to correct this problem?

There's a bolt back at the transmission that you can see from the driver's side, easy with the wheel off that can work it's way loose and that might just need tightening. It has a machined tip to fit into a hole in the rod that extends from the shifter to the trans. WHen it's loose the shifter will have side to side play.

This can also be caused by the connection at the shift lever wearing out. You'll have to pull the shift boot up to inspect.

thanks for the help i did pull the shifter boot off and the plastic bushing was screwed so I made a aluminum bushing on the lathe. came out mint and so tight now.

Sounds like that worked out well for you. Just one thing though, aluminum + bushing typically do not go together.

Like a previous poster said, it's probably the shift linkage with the chamfered hole.
