I don't think he could have dug the hole much deeper for himself.
Hopefully the shop that agreed to do the repairs and doctored paperwork sees some legal ramification from this as well.

I think he ran because he killed someone, not so much the worry of the insurance. I also wonder what state the driver was in as it was Saturday night and could have been drinking. The fact that this dude not only ran, but then went out of state to have the car fixed is really shady. That cast a bad light on the driver that I am sure will be brought up in court. Sucks for the passenger in a big way, she is going to get screwed just as much as the driver. I guess it pays to do the right thing?

Yeah this guy would have been a LOT better off if he'd just pulled over. He made it worse for himself by taking off - but could cover for that by just saying he "panicked". But going so far as to cover it up (and as extensively as he did) won't go over well with the judge. He's done.

Like having valid registration and insurance?
Like NOT fleeing the scene of an accident?
I am sure there will be lots of ripples through other peoples lives, all which could have been avoided by a little caution, a little forethought, and a more responsible driver..
Alabaster AL is a 3 hour drive from ATL... 3 HOURS... not exactly the next town over...

Just down the street from me, in fact I'll be down that way tonight getting the 944LS tuned for the race this weekend. It wasn't at the shop I use as I stop by there quite often and did not see it.

Yep - I suppose we are trying the guy just based on the info the AJC is putting out but the no insurance, having the car fixed and painted in the next state over and forging documents is pretty bad. He might not have know the cyclist died when he left the scene but that doesn't make it any better that he did drive off.

I was keeping an open mind until the details came out.
I'd like to think a nice guy, in the wrong place at the wrong time, who must have learned at some point just how serious the accident was, would turn himself in.

Takes me 2 hours and 45 minutes from my house to Josh's. I NEVER exceeded the posted speed limits either! Actually, on 285, if you are not going at least 80, you will get run over. i got squashed.
It did not look painted black to me. It is a future parts car after it sits at the impound yard for 2-3 years while the courts screw around with it.
A tragedy all the way around for sure.

Yep sucks all the way around. Not faulting the bike at all here, don't know what happened. But my motto when I see cruisers ie Harley Type that barely do the speed limit...is to give them a wide birth!
