I think the stock one is mounted in an orientation they recommend against
The exhaust plumbing on the Porsche is a little different, the Turbo is across the engine from the head and the waste gate is between the two. You don't want too much heat and pressure on the sensor but you want it in the hot exhaust flow...kind of a strange balance to find. You also want to keep it an angle to keep moisture away from the tip.
The general mounting tip is to put it on the low pressure side of the Turbo to avoid the direct heat and pressure from the engine exhaust.

Wide band o2 sensors are great for tuning purposes. I highly recommend installing one. It would take hours of dyno time to do the tuning I have done with mine. I think it's a must for modified cars.
