951 vs. ML55
I raced a Mercedes Benz ML55 the other night. That SUV was incredibly quick, I gained slowly on him in 3rd but it took me till the top of 4th to catch him.
I've got a 26/8 Turbo and some unknown chips (They've raised the rev limiter, but I don't know what benefits they provide.)
Has anyone else exprienced anything with these SUV's? Is my 951 slow (no.) or is that one insanely fast SUV?

Speaking of SUV's, is it me or is the Porsche SUV nothing more than a jacked up station wagon (that's also pretty quick)? Come on, the Cayanne (or however it's spelled) is most certainly NOT an SUV...station wagon...

Hi,
The ML55 is fast, but not that fast. I have a 951 with several mods on, and it produces around 300 horsepower. My father has a ML55 and when we compared the cars my 951 was so much faster than the ML so I can´t understand how you almost got beaten. The E55 is fast due to the lack of extra weight the ML55 has to carry on.
Sorry for my lousy English

The specs I posted above are for the ml55 AMG - I thought everyone knew that the only Mercedes SUV able to accelerate in the same conversation as a 951, had to come from AMG.

There are other compaines that modify the Mercedes ml. There is Brabus for instance that has a Ml that makes 450 hp. Maybe it could have been that one. ( i doubt it)

I had someone else in the car and we were going up a hill, but I don't think it would make that much difference. But I do have a K26/8 (Turbo S Turbo), so that should account for any difference.
The thing was incredibly fast, but I haven't been able to compare my 951 with any others on the road or behind the wheel (Except for a short ride in tazman's 951S), so I can't say wether my car is slow.
It certainly doesn't feel slow, I can tell you that much.

Brabus ML version is not as fast as the AMG´s ML, but it has more horsepower. The AMG´s ML also looks better on the outside than Brabus.
Here in Sweden a company put a blower in a ML55, the result was 490 horsepower on all wheels to the ground. The car runs quarter mile at a low 13 sec. That is enormous for a car that wieghts more than the stock ML55. The blower is from a company called Kleemann.
Only the conversion costed about 90.000 dollars

The Kleeman ML 55 has 550 horsepower and 529 lb-ft of tq. and costs $16,995. I think install is around $1,500 and takes a couple of days. http://www.bergwerks.com/k_super_appli.jsp
The Kleeman modified Mercedes are bad to the bone and the Kleeman modifications of the AMG cars are truly awsome!
