I'm not sure what is going on with these cars right now but I have seen several listed very low...
last week I saw a 86 turbo that looked very clean with good paint, fuchs, interior - $1900. Owner said it needed a head-gasket. Lasted one day on Craigslist.
Here are a couple of other cheap ones on the east coast .... go get em !

Yes, complain about it. Next time, please buy it and then shove the required 10k back into it to get it back into shape.
OR--
Take the second view at it. Josh is helping by providing a used parts market to help keep other 944s on the road longer and at a cheaper price. I was able to get my turbo for $700. The shops at the time were quoting the previous owner way above $10k to replace the rusted over parts and even more to fix the motor (bent intake valves). Without Josh, my car would have been long gone as well, but now it is --almost-- rust free and will be one hell of a car when back on the road.
It amazes me how many purists are created when they get their hands on a Porsche, even if it is the unwanted step brother of the brand.

The market IS, what the market DOES! This isn't about a bidding issue, this is about CA$H! Those of you who seem to complain about dismantlers always seem to do so AFTER you couldn't afford the cash market value of the car in question. It's always been that way. I'd rather see them saved, but these cars are not solid gold investments. Get over it!
