"Tell your neighbor with the 355 he doesn't stand a chance against my car at this altitude and I challenge him to some fun laps at the Pueblo road course as well. "
When Blurry951 gets his engine back from Anderson Motorsorks, we'll have a 951 vs. F355 duel on tape! That is if I can keep up in my video chase-car...

Why thank you . I guess all that Catholic private schooling paid off after all, eh? And the scars on my knuckles can actually make for interesting conversation-openers in bars & clubs too! darn those nuns...
Cheers & Happy Holidays to all!!!

I wouldn't worry much about the F355. I beat the same F355 on two seperate occations with my previous grey 951 (with 130K on the short block running a K27/6 turbo).
Each race started at about 70mph up to about 130mph.
No problemo. The car was putting out about 335HP to the wheels back then.

I've gotta be there for that.

I easily beat an F355 at the local road course. In fact, he spun while frantically trying to keep up with me.

Bret,
There is an easier way.
Set me up with a race with him. He will be so embarrased with that Ferrari, he wont pull it out of the garage.
You can then leave the 951 pristine and stock.

Folks ... I recently bought a 1986 951 last spring and thought it was fast. My shop had done some work - the usual - belts, waterpump, e.t.c. He did not want to charge me time to tighten all the vacuum hoses and told me to do it myself. After a weekend or two I got them all tightened and a few replaced. I then had them replace the exhaust gaskets, including the one by the wategate and replace the banjo bolt with a ".45" orafic and the connecting hose. Wow does it ever move now!!!
I would advise anyone looking for power to first ensure all of the plumbing, vacuum and exhaust is 100% and the turbo and wastegate is working correctly, especially on our older cars. It's amazing what one little leak can do to the performance of a 951.
If one still has the need for speed, then do the upgrades. Just make sure the rod bearings have been replaced!
Just my 2 CDN cents, eh!

YES!!! A lot of little things like leaks and shorts can add up to stumbling, difficulty starting and general lack of performance. Especially when you start upgrading and turning up the boost. Hoses and clamps that are marginal and hold up just fine at 11psi of boost suddenly become major leaks at 15psi.

Heard of using a Holley jet, not sure what size. Can someone explain the .45 orifice deal. I'm dropping a 951 eng. into my 88 944 and trying to pull more power with out dropping at ton of $$$. I'm spending plenty on trying to put the car back together. Who knows any "free mods". Next year we'll talk about real mods.

"Heard of using a Holley jet, not sure what size. Can someone explain the .45 orifice deal."
This restrictor-jet mod is used by AutoThority to introduce a temporary boost-spike. The jet is installed into the banjo-bolt that comes off the intercooler-pipes. By limiting the flow-rate through that jet, wastegate activation is delayed.
However, since wastegates have different rates of wear and tear on the spring, any given restrictor-jet will yield different max-boost levels on different cars. That's why AutoThority includes three different jet sizes.
You can get Weber DGV idle-air jets from carbs shops in .125 to .155 sizes to try out. Make sure you got the right chips to match the extra boost though.

Ok, so I just read this thread cover to cover, and it is disgusting.
Both MAP and MAF sytems work, and each tuner is going to have diffrent tricks to make them work better. I do not see how Derrik can say Danno's stuff won't work the way he says it will, and vise versa when neither have been in each others shops to see. If Danno found a solution for the typical MAP issues, bravo and good for him. If Huntley swears MAP systems have idle problems, perhaps he should scrap the project and find a new solution. If they have issues, why sell them?
This takes me back a few years to when I got my Huntley MAF kit. It made good power and ran very well once I got it all tuned. Then, the weather got cold and I always had to richen the ARC-2 on every start up. Then I had to lean it out when it warmed up a little. Since the ARC-2 is in my glove box, it turned into a pain in the *** after about 1 day.
I posted, and Huntley said it was not tuned right. Then, more and more people commented on the same, from most vendors (since many of them use the same parts). Time and time again, Huntly said it was how we had it tuned, and that they never had any problems. When was the last time SO Cal was 15 degrees outside? And, even if they had not had the same problem, many other customers did.
We all chatted about the magical "72 degree" signal that the MAF sent to the DME, no matter the temp. Once discussions talked about adding the stock inlet air temp sensor back in and eliminating the false signal from the MAF. Within months, vendors started offering the revised parts. Again, if it was not an issue, they would not have added it.
The majority of posts from someone who has installed the Guru MAP kit have been very positive. I cannot recall a post on the MAP from Huntley by anyone, so sheer numbers of sales would show one may be the better choice.
I see the same old trend starting here.

The only maf system I have never heard a problem with is the lindsey digital system. I have talked to several people who have it and swear by it. The other thing is customer support is very good. As far as the map I only know what I hear on rennlist. 2 years ago I know it had alot of drivability problems but it sounds like Danno has changed that now.

You can always get the GURU stage 1/2 kit now, and then just upgrade to the GURU 364 when it comes out. GURU will give you credit towards the 364 for the stage 1/2 kit you have. I think it is 1,000$. People should start with that first before any heavy mods as I feel the GURU MAP is the best "foundation" to use for future upgrades and ability to tune as you go later. So, 3K total for 364 kit leaves you that 2K left for suspension.
