It is very easy to screw up a Leakdown test. First, not finding true TDC and having Valves open very slightly, and secondly, the leakdown tool itself. These can differ greatly. Beware the old Snap On types in red Plastic boxes.

Thank you both for the info. Looks like I'll be spending a couple $'s at the shop, to get an accurate diagnosis of the health of my engine.

Hopefully everything will check out right, and I can spend my money on modifications rather than maintenance.

just an update:today i drove my car about a couple of miles and kept the rev under 3k(no spool of turbo),i got home and let the car cool.when i checked the oil it was all there!so it seems like its a bad turbo, the turbine has no play at all but like you guys said, some turbos have excesive play but no problems and some have no play and have problems.when i get the money ill have a porsche mechanic check it out(leak down and compression test) and probably the turbo as well.thanx for all the help guys, this is why i love this board!

Why not purchase a leakdown tester (< $75) and do it yourself. It's very easy to do, and will save you money in the long run. From your signature, you have 3 Porsches, you'll be able to check all of them...

I like the 2 gauge type, I have no preference for brand name. Actually you can even make your own. Do a search on yahoo, you'll find some info on how to build one.
