How hard to remove the cat?

I put on a bursch pipe last year on my 951. Love it. I had to put it back a few months ago for the state inspection. I have been stuck in the bathroom so I havn't had time to put the pipe back. <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" /> I 'm redoing the bathroom!
Mine came off easy. The long extensions for the sockets and a swivle extension are key. Almost broke my face and got crushed when the cat fell off. Weighs a ton. I use a certain grease on the nuts everytime since I will be taking it off and putting the cat back on everyyear. Do you know how much a brand new cat costs? $600. Sell it if you don't need it.

Wow! it's that heavy? I would've thought it weighed just a few pounds. When my cousin took his cat off of his rx-7, he told me it weighted a ton. I could just imagine mine. I'll be taking it off soon, so I'll find out soon.

Is that the Bursch test pipe in Dan P's picture? I notice the Bursch is about $120 cheaper than 1 from Fabspeed.
Is the quality between the two comparable, and can you get the Bursch in 3"? If they are pretty close, I'd rather spend the extra $$ towards a cat-back. I don't see a diameter option on Pelican's page.

OK, got mine installed. Nearly got heat stroke working under the car in the 95F heat here in TX. Bursch fits perfectly. No leaks. Used lots of anti-seize b/c I will have to reinstall the cat for inspection next month. Engine revs alot more freely. Have not driven it yet though.

driving impressions : car is smoother - boost rolls on quicker and maybe a little harder but not a night and day difference. The throttle blips rev more freely as well. The exhaust is a little louder and throatier, but not that different. My cat actually looked ok on the inside - no chunks of charcoal floating around. Overall a relatively cheap mod that seems to add a little torque and helps drop a lot of weight.

Is there a significant difference in horsepower gain from a 3 inch test pipe vs a 2.5 inch? If so, how much? I'm getting the 3 inch, but if there isn't that much of a difference, then I might as well get the 2.5 inch. It's a lot cheaper.
