Probably has something to do with my dying battery

However that means I am capable of spark, I'm just not getting it when I want it. As I said before I tested the resistance as per http://www.clarks-garage.com/pdf-manual/ign-02.pdf on the ref/speed sensors and they came out ok, the 2 outermost prongs on each didn't even register and remained "1." I assumed this was all well and good, but I just want to get it out there.

Is there anything to check before starting to look hard at the dme? I glanced at it last night but didn't notice anything obvious. I checked all the grounds from the harness connector and they're good.

Since my rpm needle doesn't even move with the rest of my gauges when I turn the key to accessory I don't think it's a very reliable source to figure out anything.

Are you still having fuel filling your cylinders? If so, your DME chip is in backwards. Ask me how I know this...

Fuel problem was solved

I confirmed with rogue about the chip placement lol

After you turned your chip around did it start right up?

I had to pull the plugs and crank the motor a little to get the fuel out. Started right up, so I promptly changed the oil! Be sure to do that. My bout with greatness was several years ago. Didn't hurt anything fortunately.

If the chip is in wrong you can fry the chip in a hurry. My buddy with a Z did this.

Bypassed the alarm for the hell of it, nothing.

That's a good point black944, I may have not been lucky. Do you guys think it'd be safe to try starting up with the stock chip with 72lb injectors- just enough to see if it sparks with the fuel pump fuse out? My dme has already been modified for the roguetuning stuff but it may still function.

I'm getting to the point of just buying a speed/reference sensor for the hell of it even though they check out.

If you pull the fuel pump fuse, you can see if you get spark with the stock chip without flooding or other bad things happening. If you converted the DME by adding pins and the jumper, I don't think it will work with the 24 pin IC. You could also ask Rogue to burn you another chip. The IC itself isn't that expensive.

Anyone near NC want to loan me a turbo DME? I might throw a few bucks your way depending on how far I have to drive..

I just can't figure what else it could be other than a bad one. There aren't any ways to check the dme for output are there? Sure wish I could just put my turbo chip in my n/a dme.

I've exhausted just about every option and I'm quickly running out of time. If I manage to drive this thing a mile up the road I'd be happy.

I stayed up soldering my dme and today had a breakthrough!

Strong spark and a bouncing baby tach!

wish me luck...

Welp
>started right up
>idled at 1500 for a few seconds
>I see spraying coming from the front of the engine
>go to turn it off, nothing
>while running around the car to take off the battery, suddenly FIRE
luckily I had an extinguisher right beside of me that snuffed it out quickly
it was oil
but really, what the hell

I hate this car

I guess this means that everything bad that could happen has now occurred so your luck has to change.

Did you still have your DME relay jumpered? If you do, put the relay back in. Turning off the ignition kills the DME relay and removes voltage from the coil. Not sure way it ran with voltage pulled from the coil. If you used a dry powder extinguisher, clean it off ASAP...that stuff is corrosive.

I just hope that was it. I didn't exactly have time to examine where the oil was coming from but it was spraying "up" from the belts. I just don't understand why I didn't even get a drop of oil leaking when I pressurized with dry cranks up to 4 bar. I did seem to have a LOT of oil pressure when running though, which is a little worrying. Oil cooler placement shouldn't have anything to do with that, right? Because it's high up.

After I put a bolt in the balance shaft front I didn't get any more leakage, just a lot of spray from oil whipping off the belts...

However this is what came of it and so far I'm satisfied, just a few minor kinks to work out like the car staying on with the key off which I imagine is a problem in my alternator wiring.

Thanks a ton guys, you were an invaluable help
