Post Insurance trouble with race car (rolling chassis)

I have a rolling chassis that will turned into a track car eventually. The car is complete but without an engine. I just tried to get insurance on the car in the event the garage burns down or it gets stolen but my insurance broker tells me it's tough luck and that he does not know of anyone who would insure the car. He knows it is a track car and that it is not a daily driver. I know that I am not covered at the track but I would like to get coverage in the event something happens when I'm not at the track (ie: car burns in my garage, trailer gets hit when hauling car to track, etc.) What do you guys with track cars or cars undergoing an engine rebuild do for insurance?

Check out K&K Insurance. They offer all sorts of motorsports related insurance. A quick check of their website finds insurance for 'race equipment off-track & storage.'

Hey,

Won't your home owners insurance cover the car?
That insurance covers your home and the items
in your home.

You don't need a couch insurance policy for your
couch if the house burns down, you should not
need auto coverage for a vehicle that is not
driven on the street.

Yep, it should be possible to get it covered under your homeowners' insurance, tho' you want to be sure that it's listed as part of yor personal property, and that your insurance agent knows about it. It's kinda like a riding lawn mower, I'd think...
