The new green o-rings are bigger and will fit nicely...

I did not explain that too well.

The TSB indicates 2 possible parts for the aluminium pipe (afaik there is only one type of o-ring avalaible now).

It is likely that the aluminium connector pipe on my car is not compatible with the (newer?) o-rings which I got in the heat exchanger overhaul kit (the new seals are those in the picture above). The old seals literally turned to mush as I removed them so I could not compare these with the new o-rings (but I assume they were wider).

To address this, I believe you have to buy the newer connector pipe (951 107 152 03) which is compatible with the narrower o-rings. This is my theory - I'll have to wait till the dealer gets in the newer part when I'll know for sure.

If someone has one of these pipes handy, can you let me know if the o-ring is a snug fit in the pipe groove?

Thanks,
Michael

I am also very curious to see what someone knows about this part and what the differences are! <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

Hi Blurry:

I ordered 951 107 152 03 from the dealer today so I'll be able to let you know if the o-ring groove is narrower soon.
I hope to have it together again this weekend for testing.

By the way, I found another reference in support of the notion that the fluids can mix at the turbo.

<a href="http://www.rennsport.ca/articles/technical/944%20Turbo%20procedure.htm" target="_blank">Philippe Desjardins 944 Turbo upgrade</a>

If the new connector pipe fails to address the issue, I'll check the turbo next.
Its probably due for a rebuild anyway.

Hi Guys:

Yes - the new connector pipe is quite different! It just looks like it will seal much better. <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

Blurry - do you know if you have this same style on your car (the old one on the right)?
