I have been monitoring the various posts regarding RWHP. I was wondering how much HP a 951 owner likes to have and what is a reasonable price to pay for it. Let's say 350rwhp, 400rwhp kits? Out of a 2.5L engine.
What would a reasonable price to pay for Turbo, MAF kit, PiggyBack system that can provide serious reliable HP? No need for a change with additional upgrades...
Most kits I have are making over 400rwhp. However it might be a bit much for the street. I would like to get inputs from the 951 guys..
Thanks,
John

"400rwhp/400rwtq on 91 octane ****ty pump gas. That'd be nice . I don't think a 2.5L can achieve that goal though."
I think it can be done. Have to incorporate some new unheard-of components (at least in the 951 community) and some new tuning philosophies. Bob Norwood got a twin-turbo Testarossa to over 1100rwhp using 91-octane pump gas...

In my opinion most 951 owners would say the more HP the better, assuming the lag isn't to great.
Reasonable price to pay? Most have substantial mods already. But assuming stock, $2,500.00 sounds very reasonable for that kind of performance, assuming everything is high quality and bulletproof (major caveat here).
Sounds like you have something to offer?

I have kits in various forms. Starting with the upgraded chips, MAF kit, PiggyBack, Turbo.
Few things to note:
* Stock injectors are ok for 300-330rwhp with higher fuel pressure.
* 350rwhp is not a problem and can be done for $2500 or less.
* I'm working on a kit that produced 340rwhp at 13psi boost. Traget is 430-450rwhp & torque at the top end. On a 2.5L engine...
* Most of the turbos I have make full boost in the 3600-4000rpm. Many dyno hours were spent to come up with a good turbo for the 951.

Careful what you say...stock injectors don't necessarily support 300-330rwhp. The real-world flow rates of stock injectors seem to be all over the map. Some people have managed up to 340rwhp, others have only mustered about 295rwhp. My stock injectors ran out of steam at 305rwhp, no matter how high I cranked up fuel pressure and tweaked the settings on my ARC2 fuel controller.
I'm currently making in the ballpark of 340rwhp at 18psi of boost. Honestly, that's plenty. I don't need 400rwhp, and I'm not willing to sacrifice engine reliability and longevity for a slightly faster car. I think most people would be pretty darned happy with an honest 325-350rwhp at 16-18psi of boost.

IanM,
As I said, good working stock injectors can handle in the range of 300 to 330rwhp. A/F is not the only factor in making HP.
340rwhp at 18psi boost is good.

IanM-
I couldn't agree with you more on the following statement:

I might even eliminate the 'r' in the rwhp and say 350hp. That's a damn fast 951. I guess if I tracked I might feel differently.

300-350rwhp is more than plenty for street use. You'll be traction limited. In the wet, you must be very careful. For track use it's a different story, assuming you are an experienced driver.
ian, I can provide you a turbo if that's all that you want/need. Email me, and we'll take it from there.
