Anyone know where to find bulk 3 inch exhaust pipe?
I Just bought a 16 ton pipe bender on ebay, and I am going to build 3" full exhaust systems for myself, and a few of my friends. I have searched everywhere on the net for suppliers of pipe, and the cheapest I could find it for is $80 for 5 feet from Borla. Stainless would be nice, but I would settle for Mild steel.

Any muffler shop, I bought a 10' piece of mild steele for about $14 from a local shop. If you want stainless go to a metal or scrap yard, if the don't have it they should be able to order it. They'll most likely sell it by the pound, they don't see it as a specialty item for exhaust, therefor they don't sell it at a premium price. Good luck.

www.onlinemetals.com I've bought some stuff from them. You can order custom lengths as well.

For all intents and purposes 439SS would work fine for an exhaust. Should be cheaper than 304 and doesn't have the IGA problem. It's easy to MIG or TIG weld and you don't have to deal with the thermal expansion issues. It will get a light blush rust on the surface in the hot section but it isn't cause for concern. OEM's like Arvin and Tenneco toss this stuff on a regular basis for a number of reasons. If you can find the scrap buyer you should be able to get it cheap.

I already consider doing this, and the best pipe I found is ornemental SS 304. It have 1/16 wall(better tan any pipe I've check) thick and sell in 20 feet long. I'm calling them from a little metal shop in Canada and it cost me about 160$ CAN.
The best thing about it, is already polish

Let me know how it turns out. Regardless of the kind of steel you find. If it is a more rust prone steel, I know a local shop here that I will just get it Ceramic Coated inside and out for really cheap. I wish some of the shops selling exhause would give the option of polished or unpolished. Anyhow, keep me posted on your progress. I would like the opportunity to see what it is you have made and purchase one from you for a reasonable price.

White944turbo - IGA is Inter Granular corrosion Attack. Welded straight 304 isn't the best choice when it comes to welded joints in an exhaust system.
The polished stuff looks good until it gets hot. At about 600F it starts to heat tint. In the hot sections like the down pipe it looks pretty ugly pretty quick. For that reason I see no reason to polish. Maybe the tip if you want something nice for the street.
I'd rather get the same part cheaper and every bit as functional. It isn't a coffee table!
BTW, if anyone could use about 1,000,000 lbs. of perfectly functional 439SS let me know. I can work a good deal for you. Gauges 0.045 to 0.070 widths up to 48"

Nope, they use a lot of 304. It's about 31 coils which to the OEM exhasut manufacturers isn't much.
BTW, while we hear a lot about 304 and 321 the Big 3 are looking to grades like aluminized 409 and 439 to get 8 year durability. Manufacturers in Japan like 436S.
The interesting thing is the price structure for 304 in today's market. Shall I say it's a buyers market.
