Post Tec3 in and Car Started

Fianaly got the car back together. As some of you know I had the engine with the Ray Charles rebuild from BodyMotion in NJ. After I fixed all of their mistakes I decided to move up a step and prepare for the next upgrade in displacement. So I invested in a Tec3 knowing I wouldn't be buying chips etc. again.

During the install Dave Bearman and I decided to completely rip out all of the wires in the car, it's track only. That was helpful because it didn't leave much to get in the way. The wiring was pretty much straight forward and true to the manual which is LARGE. A lot of good information.
Also found that Electromotive is very helpful when it comes to their tec support.

So tonight was it's maiden voyage. We had a few problems communicating with the Tec3 not sure why but once solved the car started on the second flip of the switch. It was impressive to be able to sit in the car and see all the engine parameters on the laptop screen. I also data logged part of the session for analysis.

Thanks to Chris White for sharing a startup file which made the day go a lot easier. <img src="graemlins/drink.gif" border="0" alt="[cherrsagai]" />

How about some news from the other Tec3 installs?

Cool - thats the third Tec3 to have a first start in the last 2 weeks! My street car has been jinxed since the Tec3 start up - no relation to the Tec3 just a lot of coincedences! The rear main seal started leaking so I replaced that and changed the oil in the process. Now I have a sticky lifter! At least that is a lot eaiser fix than the rear main seal.
Keep us posted on your progress. If you want the 'new and improved' bin file let me know, its been tweaked some more since I sent you the last one.

Alan:

Congratulations on getting the car running again!

Any idea how much did the extra wiring weighed?

Nto to pick on the Clewitt kit - Richard makes some real nice stuff - but the kit is not a 'bolt on' kit. There is a lot of fabrication and custom wiring work to get it to work. If it were a complete kit then it would be a great deal!!
