My maximum boost pressure just dropped to 1.2bar. What is wrong?

Yes, that is just about the question. The "normal" maximum boost pressure is raised to 2.0 (1.0)bar. But now the wastegate opens when the pressure reaches 1.2bar. What is wrong? Does somebody know the necessary spare part number? This is a model -89 turbo (S).

Computer is in limp-home mode. Something is triggering a fault code. There's a test port on the driver side of the engine bay that you can attach an LED to and read the blink codes to determine what the fault is. Danno has the blink codes on his website.
I had the same problem recently and it turned out to be a bad TPS. Easy fix.

Yes... I've seen your posts on exceptional boost behaviour before. It's too bad that you've got the car all apart now since it would've been nice to know why it performed the way it did.
I suppose the obvious questions apply:
How did you know you were in limp home?
Are you/were you using the stock boost gauge to determine boost or aftermarket?
Is the wastegate being controlled by the CV or is something else either in line with the system or replacing it?
I don't doubt what you've experienced with your car but lacking any information about why it ran that way there's not much to work with.
It's interesting that you've chosen to do so much work to the car given that most people spend a lot of time and money looking for a turbo that spools up as quick or faster than stock and will hold boost to redline. Seems you already had that.
I have family in Michigan that I vist occasionally. I'd love to see the car the next time I'm in town (probably june-ish)
