Over in my neck of the woods you'll may also get pulled over for driving the speed limit, they'll cite you for going too slow. I drive no more than 5mph over what the posted max limit is. I don't know how many damn times i've been passed by people in minivans and SUV's going at least 10-15mph more than me. There have been times where people are doing 15 mph over on the freeway or more and the cops do nothing.

let me also add that a few times on my motorcycle i've gotten "a little carried away" (speeding and unknowingly cutting off a minivan) and when I saw those flashing lights I pulled over immediately, shut the bike off, put my hands down and cooperated 100% (they actually asked me if I was in a motorcycle gang). I was given a warning both times.

Saturday night my brother and I went for a drive in the 951 and his 928. After an hour of driving we met up with a turbo eclipse at a stop light with no one in front of us and a strait road. So we raced off the line nothing crazy oranything and not cutting through traffic either. Next thing we know we get pulled over by 3 cops and they say 7 people called us in for racing in a pair of Porsches and the eclipse gets away. We didnt get tickets but 2 min after we started driving again we see more lights coming for us so we ran into some houses and lost them(didnt feel like pulling over again). We are on the black list for sure but lucky for us it was in a different city than our own.(BTW we smoked the eclipse

City Cops = Good
Highway Patrol = can suck it. Their payroll structure causes them to be over-**** and dicks about most stuff.

For me city cops= OK
Small mountain town cops = think they are hard asses

State patrol = dicks that are on power trips

Of all the times I have been pulled over 7. Only one has been civil to me the others swore and treated me like I murdered someone.

As I posted in another topic, THAT'S WHY I LIVE IN FLA! Thankfully, in Florida, there is no shortage of traffic ticket attorneys, who generally fight tickets for you (via a phone call and ticket number) where it costs about the cost of the ticket plus court costs, and almost certainly gets you off. Thus, I can quite comfortably be as uncivil as you like with the piece of sh*t pigs who routinely pull us over for BS offenses and get no points on my license. The other benefit (as I'm sure LA people can attest) is that there are SO many really high end cars, that an old Porsche qualifies as a beater down here, and the cops look for $100k plus cars as their major ticket items.

The downside is that with no inspection at all, people drive the biggest pieces of crap, many of which blow out tires on I-95 causing innumerable traffic accidents and road debris

I'm still pretty stoked to be here, though I certainly miss the curvy mountain roads of New Hampshire (but not the winters...or fall or spring)

I got nailed on 287 in Jersey doing 85 in a 65 following the flow of traffic. Of course the cop doesn't pull over any of the 6 cars ahead of me going the same speed. Nah... nor did he pull over the tractor trailor next to me going the same speed. Of course he has to pull over the nice white porsche.

Oh well. The conversation was pretty short and to the point: "I clocked you on laser going 85 in a 65 i'm writing you a ticket." Ummm... ok.

Such is life...

I also hate state troopers, its cool when they give you two tickets at once (both written wrong= I got off). My friend had the great idea of getting shock trauma team license plate frames with "medevac" put on his license plate and has gotten away with a lot. I have my initials on my plate and the shock trauma team frame, one cop got behind me and followed me, but after a while he just flew by.

gosh, all you guys getting nailed for going under 80-90mph. I'm glad i never got nailed when I was in the buck-forty mph range...

all my tickets (lost count) are for no more than 10mph over.

maybe we should stop speeding and invest in track time! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

One of my better friends main goal in life was to be a cop.

He joined the military and became an MP. The base he was stationed at nestled up to US 101. For kicks he would take his radar gun out to the frontage road and shoot someone doing 65 on the freeway. He would lock in the 65 mph reading and then go find some shlep that he didn't like in the base and give them a ticket with the locked reading.

He eventually got busted off base with a Colt AR15 converted to a fully automatic weapon (machine gun for the lay person, highly illegal) and was drummed out of the military. He was shooting it at a freeway rest stop near some houses, to show his new girl friend auto weapons fire. One of the locals took offence.

Anyway they say it takes a crook to catch a crook.

Me.....I have a PHD in traffic school.
