Temp Sensors

Temp Sensors
Well, I finally got the car back togther and running after doing a headgasket and raceware studs.
It was a long process (had the head rebuilt, etc.
In the process of removing the head studs i heated the block really well with a MAP gas torch.
Well,, the car seems to run pretty well until warm. Then it doesnt do well. Other thing is that the temp gauge doesnt work now (all the wires are connected).
I think I may have damaged the two temp sensors. What I did, is that I heated the block, and sicne they were in the way, the MAP torch probably heated the senors too (i didnt even think of taking them out). Will super heating the temp sensors fry them?
I think I need ne ones, but does anyone have test values for them?
Thanks

If you got the torch on the sensors you may have shorted them internaly.
You can take them out and test the resistance at room temp and then light a match under the sensor end and see if it changes resistance. If it does then you are probably ok.
