Post washer fluid tank

How is this removed? I know there is a screw that holds the tank on the fender but were are the other screws? Do I need to take the lower engine cover off or put the car in the air to do this job? Thanks in advance.

I had no trouble getting mine out, I dont remember if there were any lower screws, but I dont think so. It does require a bit of weaving to snake it out.

There is at least one lower screw that mounts the tank. I can't recall if the mounting point is closer to the left or right side of the car. I'm pretty sure it is accessible if you remove the forward part of the fender liner, though I had my front spoiler removed when I removed the tank.

One of the lower bolts (towards the drivers side) on the large tank is a real pain. There's a bracket (frame rail alignment bracket?) that prevents backing this bolt out far enough (at least on my car) to remove the tank w/o loosening the bracket.

Man what a pain!

I tried taking out the washer tank in my 86 turbo. They built the car around it. So far, I have the Headlight motor, Coil, spoiler (cover under the car), part of the inner fender, and a bracket that at one time held the car to the assembly line.... off the car and it still won't come out. The lower outer bracket is about 2 inches long and won't clear the metal inner fender. We're convinced it was installed from under the car before anything else was installed.

I'm preparing to install a water injection system, (see 951 board) and wanted to use this tank because it would hold more than the little tank that came with the kit. Now I'm thinking I'll put the little tank in and see how long it lasts. After all, who needs 2 gallons of fluid on the rt front fender...

It is really easy to get out once you know the trick........

The trick is.......

Remove the engine, torque tube, transaxle and windshield......then it comes right out =))

why do yyyyyou want to remove the big tank? I think the bigger Tank holds more water so it is better and last longer with the water injection

Konstantin,
I need to remove the tank because it has a hole in it. I will leave it off until I figure out what I will do with my intercooler. If I upgrade my intercooler then I probably will use the area were the tank sits for my MSD ignition because I dont think I will need the water injection unit with a larger intercooler so no tank. If I do use the water injection unit then I will have to replace my tank anyway as it doesnt hold water.

I need to remove my tank to either make room for the smaller tank or to modify the big tank to add the proper fitting. Either way it has to come out.

I finally checked the Renegade Archives, (see my website below), the big tank does come out the bottom. For us Turbo guys, the oil cooler adds a bit more work.
Ug..

Well, if I'd check my own website I would have saved myself a lot of work. The only thing to add to this is that the brake cooling duct needs to be removed. I'm guessing that the non-headlight washer equipped cars probably have the smaller tank.

The headlight motor, coil and oil cooler from earlier post do not need to be removed.

It's a big tank...

This is a bit of a pain in the ***. First, jack up the front of the car. The tank is removed from the bottom. Pull the fuse for your headlight retract motor. Manually open the RF headlight. The washer motor lifts up off of stanchions molded to the front of the tank. Remove the motor/pump assy. along with the tank cap and set aside. Unfasten the three mounting bolts and slide the tank out through the bottom of the fender well. As to fixing the leak; I ground out a bit of plastic material along the crack in my tank and sealed it with Plexiglas adhesive. So far, so good. I might alternatively try a thinned out fiberglass resin.
