Post clutch / transmission / shifting problem, HELP!

so, i donno what's up w/ my car, but all of a sudden, it's as if i don't have a 2nd gear, and the rest are (hard to describe, bear with me) hard to "find" and hard to tell if you're even IN gear or not.

called the porsche dealer, who suggested getting the shifter linkages or something along those lines adjusted (sorry, i'm not the most mechanically inclined, i love to learn and pick up fast, but i've never had problems of this sort) since our cars are rear tranny, i guess there are some pretty long links, rods?, connecting it.

i just hope it's not anything wrong w/ the tranny itself, hell i'd rather the clutch be bad before that (even tho that's a 25+ hour job + a $600 - $1200 clutch... ugh).

anyone got ideas of what it might be??? also, it's so sloppy when "in gear" that it's hard to tell you've actually selected a gear.

nevermind! *whew*

mother nature 1, porsche 0. I guess some rats decided to make a nest in the shift boot, and died, prior to my buying the car. in fact, it must have been LONG prior, since there was no smell..... she's shifting fine now tho
