Default 951 Clutch Opinion Exedy vs Sachs

I've got a 951 with K26/8, some kind of unidentifiable chip, 3" exhaust and cat delete. So a bit of power, but not, you know, 3.0l power. I'm thinking of replacing the clutch and wondered if there was any opinion on Exedy vs Sachs.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Tim

Any plans to further mod the car?

Tial 38mm wastegage and 3 bar FPR in the near future. Not sure after that, but I'm happy with the power the car makes now. Mods will be focused on chassis and further driver improvement.

Sachs 930 clutch disk.
yep the disk off the 930. It's strong and will support lots of mods.
If you're happy with the power, look at suspension, as you said, but then the brakes. The stock brakes are outstanding, but new technology improves them a lot.

I went the 930 disc route 5 years ago when I did my clutch job. I wasn't planning any big mods, just didn't want to have to go thru that ordeal again. My car had original clutch and every nut & bolt was an ordeal. The 930 disc has heavier center & the lining is wider, utilizing all of the disc & flywheel surface.

Any mods need to be done for the 930 Clutch disc? How much does it run vs say a stock 951 clutch disc kit.

I think the 930 clutch is cheaper and mine bolted on with no mods.

I've heard there are some issues while running the 930 clutch and kep pp combo

Does this hold much water?

+1, I'd hear about clearance issues? The clutch won't release or something like that?

I spoke to the guys at Kennedy and they said the 930 disc doesn't fit correctly, I think they said its too wide but I don't remember exactly what they said.

Anytime you start go with aftermarket parts, you have to be aware of tolerance stack. I used a stock flywheel with Sachs PP and no problems and never have I heard of a problem. Engine is around 320 RWHP (boost dependent) and the clutch doesn't slip

If memory serves me, the problem with the KEP was that the increase in thickness of the 930 clutch didn't allow it to release. There was a post on it some time ago.

+1, that sounds about right,. I thought it was a Kep 930 combo. I have the Kep stage two stuff, not feeling the luv at the moment.

Worked well when it worked but pretty much chattery all the time. If it has to come out it's not going back in! But my issue might be the clutch lines so I'm just whinning.

Are you saying you have a KEP stage 2 pressure plate with 930 disk, and it chatters? Do others with this set up get chatter too?
