That could be an extremely rare part if it is an original factory motorsport piece (and looking at the other parts off that car and talking to the seller, my guess is that it probably is genuine).

99%+ of the over 200 Cups made came with the production rubber hatch spoiler wing/lip.

I am only aware of one car that likely came from the factory w/ a hard/fiberglass "le mans" type wing. It was the #1 car of the nine '87 US Cup/Escorts. When I saw that car in '93, it had this wing on it, and in talking with owners of the car, it supposedly was imported to PMNA with it.

I like that.
As years pass there is an increasing numbers of "special" parts being discussed, and the most special thing about those is that they never even saw the skies of Germany.

There may still be some weight and downfoce to gain from a FG & larger unit though.

The "cup" one discussed here is similar to the 924 GTR/GTP wings that were used on the cars that raced at Le Mans, although none of these have the large, deep "porsche" molded into them. But I do remember the Escort/Cup shown above, did have the large "porsche" in the face of the spoiler.

Not sure how much flex the stock rubber ones have. I have followed plenty of 944s down long straights at 130+ mph, close enough to read the registration on the license plate tabs, and dont remember ever noticing that the spoilers flex or flap in the turbulance.

Dimensionally, some of the motorsport and aftermarket spoilers appear to be at least somewhat larger and have a slightly higher lip, which could/should increase downforce.

IIRC the one on the Boss 924 GTP as displayed in the Porsche museum is made of rubber.

I would buy a "Le Mans" wing. I love the way they look on a 951. I have always admired the wing in ski's car.

So the wing in question turned out to be a 924 GTS wing. These were designed for a lexan hatch and when it was test fitted to a 944 glass hatch it was poor.So the fiberglass man is going to desigin one for the glass hatch.AIR make a reproduction of the 924 GTS wing for $425.He's already working on it,so I'll post more soon. Thanks Joel

I was going to mention that it looks just like the AIR 924 gts spoiler, looks exactly the same

Did anything ever come of this or did it die off?
