It's cool when it isn't something that doesn't have to wait on parts.
Jim, its been a while since I did the line you're talking about, but something makes me think the hard lines are different diameters (that you'll be attaching each end of the hose to). I'm not willing to bet on it, but check it out before you get the hose. One of them had me scratching my head...at least enough to make me spend the $$ on the OEM.

Ted - you are correct, it's not possible to cut the line and just clamp a rubber hose on both ends. However, it's easily solved the way I did it: 5/16" brass compression fitting adapter (compression fitting on one end, 1/4" NPT thread on the other) and a 3/8" hose barb (1/4" NPT thread) on the end of the compression adapter
Then just some generic 3/8" PS hose. Slips over the end of the PS cooler, and the 3/8" hose barb. So far, works like a charm. Buttoned it up just in time to get it off to the local indy Porsche guy to have the alignment done.
