When I'm in boost and let off, the car jerks/stutters. It does it in between shifts too.
I suspect the bypass valve is toast, causing compressor surge. Could this also be caused by a bad clutch?

Do you mean as soon as you let off the throttle? How does it do it in between shifts if you have the clutch in?

Because I come off the accelerator peddle before I disengage the clutch.. The short moment of throttle being closed the car decelerates violently for short bursts.. ie compressor surge. However I have heard elsewhere that this could also be the clutch, (driveline backlash). Has anyone had this problem?
I'm going to be replacing the bpv with a billet unit to handle the boost

I had this problem with a recirc. valve

Give your bypass/recirc. valve the "blow test." Blow in each port, you shouldn't be able to, if you can the diaphragm is shot.

I had a similar issue which turned out to be a bad fuel pressure regulator (Back side of the motor).

Hope you find the problem before you spend a ton :-)
