Default No Start - No Crank

I just had the thermoswitch replaced, did an oil change, changed the coolant, replaced the turbo cooling pump and oil pressure sender. The car did not start because the battery was drained. So I gave it a jump and it started up (but did not drive it).

After all of this I noticed the ignition cables were sparking, so I ordered some new Magnecore 8.5mm cables, and will get some new spark plugs while at it (will be here in a few days).

This morning when I went to start the car to move it the car wouldn't start. So I hooked up the battery charger and left it tried again and nothing. The dash lights turned on and gauges but when I turn the key it just makes a ticking clanking type sound from under the car. It wont even try to turn over just makes that sound.

What could have caused this all of a sudden? Could it be that when the car was being worked on something was loosened? I did the oil change, and oil pressure sender myself, the thermoswitch and turbo pump was done my a local mechanic and he had to remove a lot of the coolant lines in the area, and the MAF etc.

I am new to this car so I am not too aware with what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The click could be the starter solonoid...Could be a bad starter...bad ground...check the fluid levels if the oil is overfilled it could be a hydrolock.

Also when the mechanic was there the car was on and it was making a bit of a knocking sound and he said it might be the opc valve?

I checked the oil level and its past the full mark on the dip stick. Note the car is on ramps elevated about 12 inches. Could this be alternator related?

My bet is your starter solenoid is stuck.

Anyway to fix it or does it require a replacement?

First, I would pull the starter and give it 12 volts to see if it's not good. If the starter isn't working, you could try tapping it with a hammer to see if it gets unstuck. That would just be a band aid fix for now until you either get a used starter in the meantime and get it rebuilt, or buy a rebuilt starter for ~$200.

I agree w/ Elliot. Fully charge the battery and try again.

Elliott wins. You jumped the car because of a dead battery. If you only ran it for a little while, the turbo pump probably used up all the juice your alternator managed to produce in that short amount of time. Jump it again, drive it for 30 minutes, then see if it starts the next morning.

Do you own a battery charger?

Yes I have a charger. I will give it a shot. If I jump the car using another vehicle it should start right away correct? And using the battery charger I need to charge the battery for several hours?

Sounds like a dead battery, charge or jump it off. Have it checked as well. And while you are in there, clean the terminals.
