Barnaby, I get that Doug says you aren't a troll, but I am still fascinated by how in touch you seem to be for a just-joined user!

Rookie of the year?

I try to stay in touch as much as possible, in fact I might be in touch with myself right this moment!

I read, a lot, and absorb, a lot, and this isn't my first rodeo.. just my first Porsche... however I am a bit confused on quite a few items...

Looking at PET, there are 2 p/ns for that wastegate pipe... with a VIN cut-off. So, I expect the Cup cars had the same pipe as the early turbos. It was probably identified as a weak spot... Maybe cracks were developing at that flange or something, they they updated it to give it more support.

Or perhaps less support, as the formed bracket would permit more flex than the cast flange, and by moving it onto the WG from teh flange it would allow the WG to move with the pipe as heat built up as opposed to the pipe being rigidly mounted with the WG sitting above the flange?

Ed,

Knowing how you are I assume that wastegate will get cleaned up some before being installed?

The other folks already answered the where to mount it question.

And the answer to the last question -

You posted that at 11:17pm….all us old folks got back from the earlybird special, took a hit of Geritol and went to bed….hiding from the Robots…

LOL I am in the same group of old farts ... maybe even older ....
Yes it that flange on the dump tube that I was questioning ....
That picture I found pretty much said it all....
Thanks Chris

Jason
Thanks Jason
Will email you will a few other questions pertaining to this
Thanks Jason

Yes it did crack as this one did as well
I couldn't find the flange portion in the PET
